Default Infinity Kappa 60.5cs

ive had my system for a while and the highs on the speakers are really bad. when listening to acoustic music for example the highs are just to loud. whats the best way to tone this down? the crossovers dont have any filter settings. im running a california profile amp that i can adjust the highs and lows but nothing i do seems to help.

Well, I used to have a set of Kappa's and i had the same problem...turned out the crossovers were bad...plus Kappa's just sound kind of metalic to me also (which makes the highs sound somewhat bad...imo). I got some diamonds and never had the problem again.

I recently had Infinity Reference 6012 series mounted...same thing with me. The highs are ear piercing at times. I too have messed with the settings in the HU with no success. I do think its the Infinity speakers. Plus, i don't think they fit very well (even though they are "shallow mounts")

I'm not running an amp at the moment...I don't think I will. Without complete alteration-I just don't think you can make an AP1 sound good.

Are there any recomendations for a true tried and tested set of door speakers for an AP1?

im running an ap2, mounting was a pita but not to hard. I guess ill try different speakers and see if that cures the problem.

In the crossover, there should be a jumper...with lables saying 0db, -3db, +3db. Set the jumper on the negative.

I just looked at the manual on the 60.5CS on line and there is too a jumper. It is under the cover of the crossover, not outside it. There are two settings for the jumper. "Contour" and "Flat". If you set it to contour, it will reduce the midrange and effectively give you more bass and treble. If you set the jumper to the Flat position, it will give you more midrange but if you turn down the volume, then it reduces the level of your treble and bass. Get it? I have no idea what it does if the jumper is not in place, probably makes your tweeters cut out altogether but not sure.
