Default installed new stereo and sub barely has bass

Ii used to have a 00 s2k with my 10 inch kicker and alpine amp in it. Sounded perfect to me. Some piece of garbage wrecked it and now I have an 02 and put my amp and sub into that one. I checked all my fuses, grounded the amp to a exposed metal surface, checked all my connections and everything's good, and for some reason the sub woofer doesn't wanna put out bass unless ALL the bass settings are maxed out and even then it's not a whole lot. I know this sub can hit pretty good because I used it all the time in my other s. The only thing is the black and white ground wires on the head unit and on the harness. I put those two together instead of grounding them together, could that be why it's not putting out? (Remember I did ground the amp in the trunk)

Check your crossover switches on the amp and settings in head-unit. Make sure you're not filtering it out.

The settings on the amp are left in exactly the same way as they were in my other S but I have nothing else left to try but tune the crossover and gain and mess with it. Thanks for the reply guys (also to be clear, I had all the bass settings up on the head unit itself)

Turned up the gain and it sounds better but the bass is still not quite as deep as it used to be, I don't understand why

Crossover, you probably have a high pass filter on that is creating your issue. Most likely on your amp. U want a frequency of 30-120hz to keep a broad range. Anything higher will not get what u want

I had an sub in mine that did almost nothing. My problem was I was using the wires the previous owner used and they were shot, the power and ground were good but the others were shot.

Actually tune it with a volt meter. use squareroot(ohmsXrms) to determine the best AC voltage that could be supplied to the sub. I usually set my subs to 50hz. I play a 50hz sound file through the head unit at what volume I would listen to my songs to, tune the HZ until it sounds about right to me, then tune the amp and headunit accordingly without letting the output AC voltage go over the determined max voltage. I set the output voltage to just a little under what I found using squareroot(ohmsXrms) just incase.
