Default Installing my Headunit

OK, my alpine 9856 headunit arrived last night and i'm really eager to install it. I have all the necessary tools to install it but i remember i have the oem alarm. When i remove the negative or black wire from the battery, and put it back on will my alarm be armed or what will happen? Also, will my dash controls work with this headunit or should i purchase the modifry dash control interface. I'm so tempted to install it right now, but i'm not sure what will happen with the alarm when i do. So what should i do?

Don't know anything about the alarm, but as for installing the head unit - you will want to get Modifry's DCI - the IR one. Get his wiring harness as well as it has the extra wires needed to connect the DCI to the factory wiring without splicing. I just installed a 9856, the DCI and a pair of Polk db6500's. The improvement in sound is amazing for such a simple installation.

Good luck.

If your alarm goes off when you reconnect the battery just hit the disarm button on the remote to shut it off.

I would wait till you get the DCi before you install the headunit. If you install it now, you will have to redo everything again.

also, as i recall - for the OEM alarm if you disarm it and open a door before disconnecting the battery, it will be disarmed when you re-power it.
