Default iPhone 4 w/OEM headunit...

After looking at a few places, I'm still unsure as to what setup I should go with. Like the title says, I have an iPhone 4, and I'm worried that most of these kits say 3G/3GS(should I be?)

It doesn't have to be anything fancy... Just looking for something that will directly hook my iPhone up to my head unit. Seen a few places on Ebay that were selling some for under $100.

My S2000 is an 06, so whatever kit I get will connect into the XM port?

Thanks guys for any help!

I don't think you should be concerned if it says 3G or 3GS, the basic principle is the same. For an audio only mount (I'm not quite sure as to what you're after) you will be plugging a 3.5mm jack into where the earphones normally go, this will plug into the AC outlet. Another method, which will charge your iphone at the same time will go into where the USB cable plugs into. Typically these will be FM transmitters. You just have to find a clear station and set it on the transmitter and your OEM radio. As soon as you hook it up to the AC outlet, it should start playing. If this is what you are after, it should be well under 100$. If you were after hands-free calling capability, I'd just get a mount and one of the above, as the microphone on the 4G is close enough to pick up your voice from where you'll be sitting anyway, and the sound should come out through the audio system.

Hope this was somewhat helpful.

I bought whatever they had on the shelf at best buy. I can look at what brand it is tomorrow, don't recall. There was one unit for ap1 and another for ap2.

It said iPhone 3G/s, but works perfectly with my iPhone 4. When I plug in it says "this accessory not optimized...." but everything works fine. It does also charge the iPhone 4.

Although, sometimes I wish the adapter didn't charge my iPod touch, it really screws with the battery and kills the life after overcharging it too many times.

Well, I got the USAspec version in the mail today. Installed it right away. I did notice that same pop-up while hooking the iPhone up, but everything seemed to work perfectly... For a little while.

It started acting really goofy... In order for the head unit to pick up anything from the iPhone, the iPhone had to be plugged in first, then turn the ignition on. If I plugged the iPhone in AFTER turning the car/ignition on, it would just say "XM" across the head unit screen and do NOTHING.

Well, after troubleshooting this with a USAspec tech over the phone, it actually got worse. I just got back in from the garage from removing all the USAspec wires and stuff, cause now I can't get ANYTHING to play through the head unit.

Super frustrating.

You can certainly buy any of a number of iPod interface kits out there but IMO you're better off spending the money on a head unit with a built-in iPod interface.
