iPod & Alpine - tracklist issue
Just picked up a KCA420 iPod thingy for my Alpine headunit. All fine and dandy. fitted into the car somewhat discretely, and more to the point, lost no blood pulling trim fastening plugs out (yeah I know, I'm an amateur).
However...although the Nano works fine, and it's all controllable via the dash (cos I was clever and bought a dash interface when I bought the HU), each individual track appears to reside in its own folder as far as the HU is concerned.
Obviously on the nano, everything's automatically organised via ID3 tags, ie artist, album, track etc, so there's no need for "folders" as such.
Any ideas?
(ie I'd like to change artist/album with the change folder button rather than scrolling through the remainder of whatever album I'm on and those in between)
Full-ish ID3 info - it's just arranged in iTunes by artist and album, although the actual mp3s are in folders (artist/album/track.mp3) No playlists except the iPod one.

Are you doing song searches and running into this issue? Can you search by album and get all the songs listed in the album?
I'd have to go play with my iPod to see the specifics, but if I remember correctly, if I chose to play a particular song by doing a song search, the HU would just play that one song over and over. To get around this, I would do album searches or just play more general Playlists like "Smashing Pumpkins" or "Rock 90s".

Nope, not doing any searching at all - wouldn't know how to, to be honest
It's nothing to do with repeating, just that every single track is treated as being in a folder by the HU. So you can't skip albums or artists, you have to "next" through every single track :/

Okay, so you plug in the iPod and iPod is selected on the HU. The HU starts playing iPod songs, and the songs don't repeat, so theoretically, every song would eventually play if you just let it go, correct? The song order is the same as what is on the iPod as well, correct?
But, you want to choose a certain song, and you have to skip ahead until you find it, correct?
I'm not familiar with the HU, but have you read the manual regarding how to select specific albums?

Correct, correct and correct.
Manual? Pah
(Actually I've just looked at the KCA one and it may be working as intended and there's a way to change mode. I'll have a look later)

From trim plugs? That's a good trick
I've figured out the Search thing, and you can scoot through artists and albums that way
That then sticks you within an artist or album though and it only plays them rather than moving onto the next artist/album.
I suspect I'm just going to have to figure it out
