I like that sliding door. I'm guessing that's an '04 feature. Great place to mount those devices.

It's the console from the '04+. It's a direct snap-in replacement on the older cars.

I also purchased the Neo iON SP at www.mp3yourcar.com. My setup is the factory 2004 head unit to a gen4 40gig iPod.

Yesterday, the local Sound Advice (aka Tweeter) did the installation for about 60 bucks. I had them run the wire up the center console and then drill a small hole at the bottom corner inside the back of the glovebox. As in some of the pics above, I have Modifry's glovebox organizer. The cable extends far enough out from the bottom shelf to reach my iPod, which is now being held in place by the elastic band on the inside of the glovebox door. I can close the glovebox door with the iPod in place and it doesn't appear to be touching the Modifry glovebox organizer.

After two days of use, the Neo iON is working exactly as advertised. The dash and head unit functions control the iPod. Volume coming out of the iPod is fixed and the iPod is always getting power/charging as long as its connected. I set the Soundcheck option on my iPod to ON as songs seemed to be at different volumes. This seems to do an adequate job of balancing song levels.

Also, the iPod automatically comes on when the stereo is turned on and automatically shuts down when the stereo is turned off.

Long story short... I purchased the Neo iON after reading a bunch of positive reviews in the S2Ki forums and -- so far -- I'm thrilled with it.

I'll post some pics if you'd like to see the installation. If so, let me know.

Good luck with your system,
-->Taco

Someone should start a group buy or something if others want them. I really like mine and I think my friend wants one also.

This is exactly how I setup my iPod, although I'm using the Neo iON with the factory head unit and not an Alpine deck...

I just picked up a hard plastic case today for my iPod, which is a little too big to slip under the elastic in the glovebox door. Therefore, I'm most likely going to fabricate some type of frame -- perhaps out of hard foam -- to attach to the inside of the glovebox door to hold the iPod in place while it's in the case.

It works good doesn't it? You still have a drink holder and no one knows you have an iPod.

Hmm, all the choices I have to mount it. I can't decide.

Exactly. Keeping the cup holder open was definitely a thought. Even more than that, I wanted to mount the iPod in the glovebox so that I could lock it up when I leave the car with the top down.

Here are some pics of my installation...

I opted for the Contour Design iSee 4G because I wanted a flat back. The belt clip attaches to the sides, which means the case takes up less space depth-wise. However, it was a little too big to be able to utilize the elastic strap inside the glovebox door.

Therefore, a few supplies from the craft store (sheet of plastic, black material, elastic, spray glue) -- and a couple hours of work -- and I was able to make a piece to use inside the glovebox door. I had to trim about 1/4" off of the inside three shelves of the Modifry glovebox organizer to get it to fit.

Now if I can just find someplace to put my spare change! Any ideas?

Later,

Taco,

Your install looks great! Much better camera work than I had. Same similar setup.

Good luck with the iPod. I am enjoying the hell out of mine.
