I agree - the Alpine HU's are the way to go.

The Honda Music Link does not display the iPod song on the screen of the HU. You need that!

definitely alpine unit over stock unit
and musiclink is a nono, it merely turns your ipod into a cd changer. i believe you can't select playlist to be played unlike the alpine unit and things like that. it is much less convenient in many ways than the alpine unit IMO

the stock cable won't allow me to choose the playlists? I had something like this for my Mini before, but I was able to assign 5 playlists to act as like the 5 CD from a CD changer, I just rename my playlists differently in iTunes.

If the Honda link work similarly, it should be ok for me, since I'm used to using some like that.

Also, for the Alpine units, will it be possible to hook up the ipod so is not always visible from the outside?

Thank You

The Alpine cable is long enough that you can put the iPod in the secret compartment.

Is the face of the Alpine 9856/7 shallow enough so that the pivoting stereo cover bearing the S2000 logo still functions?
