Default Issue with LED rear turn signals

Okay, I bought two LED lights in red 1156, shaved off one of the ears and plugged it in and it doesn't turn on. Moved it around too, so polarity wasn't an issue. Were they bad bulbs? Am I missing anything here? Can anyone provide me with some guidance? I've searched many threads and no one really seems to have an answer for this, I've reversed the polarity many times, I returned the bulbs for two new ones, and still nothing.

With bayonet mount bulbs like the 1156, reinstalling after a 180 degree rotation doesn't reverse the polarity. There's one or two pins at the bottom which are one polarity and the body is the other.

I don't know if there is a standard where the pin should be + and the body should be GND or the opposite. If this is a loose standard in which the bulb and the wiring harness aren't the same, it won't work. You can check the bulb using a 12v power supply.

Which bulb did you buy? Why did you shave off one of the ears? Does the socket on the Honda wiring harness have only one slot?

Have you swapped the wiring in the socket itself?
