No, I've tried this too, I wanted red instead of the amber and it is an 1156A bulb that fits in there. The A stands for Amber, meaning you can only put an amber bulb in there. The bulb is just different enough from the regular 1156 to make it so you can't interchange them. You can replace the whole light bulb harness to an 1156, it'd be rather simple, but I have not had the time to do it, plus when I do have the time, the car is in the shop. Good luck!

 

Thanks for the info...I've also recently heard people are shaving one of the connectors down on the bulb to make it fit. Is this safe, and could it cause any possible problems?
