JL Coaxials
I've been surfing around in the electronics forum for a couple of months now trying to find some ideas for the stereo system in my s2000. Just wanted to thank everyone for sharing your installs. Its been very helpful.
I havent noticed any posts on anyone putting in a pair of JL mids and highs in their cars, so I registered so I can share. Here's what I have so far:
Head unit: Sony CDX-M450
Amp: PPI (old school art series) A600.2
Speakers: JL XR-650cx
Power Cable: Fat 4 gauge incase i decide to go nuts with this project.
I chose the coaxes because i have no idea where to put the tweets on this car. the door panels are too curvey for a simple flush mount and the dash corners are angled in different directions as well. I used to have a pair of MB quarts in my integra and these are every bit as good, if not better. Highs arent as bright and midrange is about the same (which is a great complement). Imaging is pretty respectable as well, the tweeters are on a swivel so they can be angled. The only problem is that i'm feeding these speakers 300watts with no crossover to cut off the lower frequencies so i have to be really careful not to fry them. If anyone is looking to get great sounding speakers, dont forget to audition these. They sound great and you can find cheap if you shop around.

excellent choice on the jl XRs. I personally prefer coaxials to components, I believe there are plenty of quality coaxials outthere that would perform as well as components, and they are easier in many situations to get good sound due to the single originating point of sound.
the XRs and the VRs from Jl audio are both excellent sounding speakres.
