full open it stays open on its own, big thing is dont stick your head in there without being aware that a strong breeze could send it down on you.

i will keep an eye on the heat problem, i figure most likely if it gets to hot it will shut down and then i will have to look into a possible different mounting solution. as of right now, so far so good.

You can replace the trunk springs with stiffer springs for trunk spoilers correct? That may be an option for getting the trunk to open easier and stay open once its hanging over your head! Just a thought...

You beat me to it. Check out http://www.hardtopguy.com

The heavier springs come as part of the OEM truck spoiler kit, but they may sell separatly. They also sell a tool to do the job with. It is my understanding that the spring tool is not necessiary, but VERY helpful.
