largest amp that fits spare tire area?
I am looking to place a more powerful 4 channel amp on PAS2KNut's amp board that fits the spare tire area (replacing a PPI PC450). I believe it's spec'd at 23" wide, but there is open space to either side of the board when installed.
I'm looking at a used Phoenix Gold Xenon 200.4 amp, which the seller measured at 23.5" wide. But all wiring connections are on the long side of the amp (front or back), whereas they are on the ends of my current amp. So perhaps this would fit?
Otherwise, what are people's opinions of the JBL PX300.4? There is a really good deal on a "factory renewed" one from an authorized dealer at the moment.
This will be used to power a set of a/d/s 236is components and Seas Lotus SW250 sub.
Thanks,
Phil

These might be a bit long...never measured the depth of the spare tire area...but....these are among the cleanest sounding amps ever!

How do you like that Alpine? What are you running off of it? Does it seem lacking anywhere?
Thanks,
Phil
Works great. I got it used from another member. I believe the bench test of the amp when it was new was actually 170wrms instead of the Alpine claimed 125.... Alpine has a habit of underrating their products. I am running a set of cheap Blaupunkt 6.75" components up front for now (waiting on my Alpine Type-X's from Darkknight1999) and a Boston G5 sub on channels 3/4 bridged to 500wrms. Sounds great, but my components are severely limiting the capability, and I have had to tune it down until I get the new speakers (hearing the cone slap off the VC is not fun
).
