Anybody know what is the min length from the HU to the trunk for an RCA interconnect? I have a spare one from the last car used but am sure it won't reach. Can I use an extension or would I lose quality sound .

I ran a 9 foot 4 channel snake down the center console, behind the passenger seat panel and into the trunk well with plenty of length to spare.
I would be amazed if one could hear the difference between a regular cable and one with a decent RCA union.

 

i wasnt sure either and bought 17' of RCA and ended up with way too much slack... ( i routed it basically just like jmardy)

im sure 10-12' should be okay.

 

I got one at 15 ft since the local store ran out on the 12 ft. What about the power wire from the hood to the trunk?

Would 12 ft be ok?

You won't be able to hear any loss in audio quality with an extension. I had to do the same thing in my SUV and it still sounded amazing. I'm sure technically speaking there's a minuscule audio loss but would you be able to tell the difference

 

bingo....people worry too much about this. we have an open top car not a world class, isolated home theater.
