Light under steering column
Background information:
I have a 2005 S2000. Purchased in June of this year. Had the oil replaced for the first time a few days ago - did this at a Sears Auto Center. After the oil change, the car will now honk once whenever I push the unlock or lock buttons on the fob. Before the oil change, the car would only honk if the lock button was pressed twice. Also, there is an LED/button at the bottom of the steering column near driver's left knee. I'm not sure if the LED is aftermarket or OEM. Behind the LED is a button, I don't know what it does. Before the oil change I never saw the LED light up, after the oil change it blinks red continuously with patern of 3 pulses-off-3 pulses-off-.... I traced the wires of the LED/button back to a silver/grey box (3rd picture).

Questions:
How can I return the honk to the previous state (only honks when lock is pressed twice)?
What is the LED/button (i.e. what is it's purpose, is it OEM)?
Thanks for the help.

Hi Recon,
I also have an 05 s2000 that I purchased used and just recently discovered this as well. It is the anti-theft system supplied by KARR and installed at the dealership as an option for the s2000.
To return to the 'silent' mode(no honk, just blinks) when locking and unlocking the car, you need to do the following:
1) open the driver door and leave it open
2) turn the key to the ON position (position 1)
3) press the button on the back of the blue LED box 3 Times
That will switch back to the silent mode. In addition I discovered valet mode as well, which to activate you press and hold the button behind the light for 3 seconds, the blue LED should light up solid and stay on until you press and hold the button again to disable it.

Unfortunately I already tried that before making this thread. I don't know why that doesn't work for me - it's simple enough to try. I'm starting to think that perhaps my button is broken. How long should the button presses be? I've tried long and short ones.
EDIT:
Just opened up the case for the LED/button to see if I could easily short out some wires to fake the button being pressed - this would indicate if the button was broken. The button is glued into the case and the wires have heat shrink on them where they connect to the button. I don't really want to destroy anything or cut any wires.
Have any other suggestions? Also, how did this change occur anyway? Would they have disconnected the battery to change the oil and then the system changed to this mode when power was supplied again?

I used 3 short button presses when I got it to work for me. If you hold the button for ~5 seconds, does the blue LED turn on solid?
I have also tried disconnecting the battery for ~30min and my setting didnt change, still did the silent lock/unlock afterwards. Not sure how it could have changed.

You might be able to get a hold of a manual to see if it gives you any options/directions. I would have thought that what spicy_mayo said would be right but if not then it might be worthwhile to get the serial number of the alarm and call the manufacturer.
