Post Lightbulbs

i'm looking to replace the factory DTRL with something less...."stock"....i know that most people on this site are about performance and stuff, but i don't really like the way the factory bulbs look...plus they really don't match the headlights. i know that i can replace the bulbs with true HIDs, but i heard that i will lose my DTRL...is this true? any help would be great. thank you so much.

Someone refresh my memory....the S2000 DRLs are highbeam bulbs with low wattage correct? Meaning, its the same bulb as the highbeams....?

Correct, I believe they run at 60% power when they are DRLs and then (obviously) 100% power when you activate the high beams.

Then you can only replace them with something like Silverstars.

well are your trying to make the DRL mode match your HIDs or the high beam mode?

It'll be impossible to change the "DRL mode" color since the light is running at 60% of its brightness no tinting on the bulb will help as its not bright enough to show the different hue.

If you want the "high beam mode" to match the HIDs, you could get some silverstars. They are a a little bit more white, but nothing to go crazy about.

The only real way to match the color is to get another HID system in there which, obviously, wouldn't be recommended.

Silverstars are the closest thing to HID that you can get from a halogen. Be VERY careful buying those POS japanese knockoff HID blue tinted lens 500000million watt bulbs. They WILL melt your housing.
