a lot less functions than the 9835? ummm... i don't think so... what are these major lacking functions? i'm betting you can't even name more than say.... 2 or 3 lost functions. and some of those lost functions were replaced by different functions. either way -- go ahead and show us...

How does the 9855 compare with the 9835? I have played with a 9835 and I absolutely loved it. It seems like both models share a lot of the same features, if not all.
The only reason I would purchase a 9855 and the only reason I would not purchase a 9835 is the 9855 has the wired remote interface and the 9835 does not.

I tested this HU out on my buddy's car and didn't really like it--even though it's a high end Alpine. If I went w/ Alpine, I would probably go with 9833

Instead of the 9833, I went with the Kenwood x889 - I had Alpine in my old sound system that's why I chose Kenwood this time.

Kenwood x889 or Alpine 9833 is

I've got the Kenwood Excelon x889 and came upon that by accident really.... I was looking to get the Alpine but it was on backorder due to a manufacturing issue. After review of other HU's I came across the x889 and I'm very pleased with the sq and interface. My .02. I have a pic or two in my album if you wanna check it out...

I have the 9855. The glidetouch is ok. I would rather have dedicated buttons, but the other features offset any dislike for the glidetouch.
