I think that's a good choice. The 750 has a lot of extra bells and whistles that you probably won't use...

Who's your cell phone provider? You could always go Iphone (what I have) or Blackberry Storm (girlfriend has it) if you have AT&T or Verizon. I think the Storm does Navigation better than the IPhone, but that is the only thing.

But cell nav system is just not up to par with those simply made to navigate isn't it?

Has anyone tried this before..?

You would be surprised. The Storm's turn-by-turn and voice directions are very accurate, as well as easy to read. I actually like my IPhone navi so much I may be looking to buy a mount for it to run my Navi/Music off of when I get my new headunit and speakers.

My daughters have IPod touch and they can only get it to work when they have cellular connectivity, which isn't too often when your heading down the highway. If it had satelite connections for navigation then I would be purchasing an Ipod touch.

To mey they just don't measure up to garmin or other name brands.

Navigation in phones it's a very cool feature. I have it in my BlackJack, but it does not compares to the Nuvi.

^ Ya I agree...., I found the least expensive place that carries the 255W is Future Shop at $269.00. Some places here in Victoria sell it for as much as $499.00. It is strange how big a difference there was in each retailer that carried this model.

In case anyone wants my opinion of the Navi system I purchased after using it for a couple of days:

1) Didn't come with a user manual. Had to go to Garmin to download one.
2) First night I got the thing I entered an Arena that I had to travel to the next morning as a test. It took a while but found it and built the trip. That evening I downloaded the FREE map update that you have 60 days to download. I didn't actually check which maps were installed when I purchased, just assumed that I should upgrade (I know don't say it). Anyway in doing so I registered the device and it automatically updated the software to version 5.0. That next morning I tried to locate the same arena and it came back with no match. I had picked the arena in the first place from the Points of Interest. Anyway to this day it still will not find that arena or my house. The first day I purchased it, the thing could locate both but now it won't. I had to manually enter my home address which it would not accept so apparently I live with my neighbors now. I'm not sure but I think my free upgrade wasn't such a good idea.
3) Other than those two things, I love the device. Voice is great and I would recommend it even though I didn't initially care for it. Maps draw fast and I was amazed how quickly it updates. I am still working on figuring out how to find locations that I want to go to that are not NEAR to me and don't know if it is limitations in the maps or just me being a noobie. Some streets that I think should be on the maps are not there but I guess you have to expect that.

Still trying to figure out where I want to mount it, but it does fit nice and doesn't fall to the floor sitting right inside the stereo door when it is open. I am thinking of customizing a mount that fits in there. Perhaps some adjustments to the visor mount.

Anyway I would recommend this to anyone starting out. Basic features are very good. It isn't loaded up with extra's but I found most of them don't have anything to do with why I purchased the device. I purchased it to help me find where I am going and to do some trip analysis of my car. This device does that very well.

Garmin help desk has contacted me and are setting up a way to download again or send me maps incase something went wrong during the process. Very helpful.

Also in playing around you can take the window mount and there is a small gap between the suction cup and the backplate. When you open your stereo door you can actually fit the lip of the inside of the door (those two thin flaps on the inside of the door) into this gap and it holds the nuvi in place without actually using the suction. It is almost perfect, a bit low and the shift knob is in the way (visually not physically) when in fifth gear, but other than that almost perfect.
