Default looking for new headunit

EDIT. Bought the Pioneer x560bt. Was cheap enough <$100 that if I end up not liking it, it can be easily replaced. So far it is working fine. No interference with door. Only issue is that it does not completely mute with the wired dci. I believe it will require the IR DCI for that function.

Hi, need help picking a new head unit so the radio can be a little bit more modern. Not looking for anything crazy because I won't be upgrading anything else dealing with the audio. Looking hopefully in the $100 range. Options needed are the basics.. BT, phone charging, iPod compatible, fitment with door closed. Hoping to fit in a rear usb port on that list but it seems like that brings the price up to the $200 range.

Ones I found so far from browsing the forums are
Alpine 143BT
Alpine 42BT (no cd)
Pioneer MVH-X560BT (no cd)
Pioneer DEH-x6700BS

I don't have too much info on the kenwood systems yet

Closing the door will be an issue with those, the older Alpine units volume knob used to be able to be pushed in so it sits flush with the radio face, the new ones don't do that.

I'm not sure of any now that offer that, it would be highly annoying to turn your stereo off every time you closed the radio door.

alpine 143bt should work.. I have it and don't have issues.. I don't think it matters but it fit with both the CR style radio door and an ap1 door.

From the other thread above this one, someone mentioned that the slight fitment issue can be resolved by enlarging the mounting holes. If that is the case, of the ones I listed, are there any outstanding issues or merits comparing one to another? Or is it just a matter of picking which one I think looks better. I am open to other brands in the same price range that has a modifry harness.

Up to the $200 range, uh, you can get some info from blmall.com. Careful,it would be highly annoying to turn your stereo off every time you closed the radio door.

Just installed Alpine 143 in AP1, no issues closing radio door. Does everything you asked. I believe I had $150 in it all said and done.

I went with the pioneer x560BT. Was $100 on amazon and has a rear usb port. I don't think it can fully mute with the dash controls, but that would be my only complaint so far.

I ended up going with the Pioneer DEH9600BHS.
I don't know exactly how far the Knob sticks out, but I had to enlarge the holes on the mounting plates for the knob to clear the door.
It's already really tight behind the radio and it's a royal pita if I have to remove the radio for any reason.

I went with the Pioneer MVH-X370BT mostly because I wanted the front USB port. I have to fiddle with the cable but I can leave a USB plugged in and close the door. No fitment issue what so ever. So far its fine. Sound quality is adequate and with it not having to support CDs its tiny and leaves plenty of room behind it for the cables and the modifry adapter(s)
