Default looking for a slight upgrade

Just bought the car and I'd like to make a slight conservative upgrade to the stereo. I have some Kenwood 6.5 shallow cone speakers to throw into the doors and I'm looking for both inexpensive and cosmetically conservative ideas to drive them.

I've heard Rockford Fosgate makes a head unit that can bridge the Front and Rear outputs to drive ~60 Watts? How much power is realistically necessary to be loud enough (and not taxing the stereo) at ~85mph?

Can I get a DCM link to run a Nakamichi head unit? (I love how clean they look) It is dissapointing that none of them offer a HD radio however.

Any other advice for a clean looking head unit other than the Nakamichi's? Perhaps something that doesn't cost so much money as well. In dash CD changer is a plue, MP3 capability is required.

Finally, has anyone been able to fit an amplifier under the passenger seat? This seems like the only place that I wouldn't mind losing space. There's no way I can take up any of the limited trunk space to place an amp.

Thanks,
Ben

if you poke around, you'll find that people have installed small amps under
the seat (a Boston GT-20 was featured recently) and somewhat larger ones
above the gas tank (I have a Boston GT-40 there, and others have done
the JL 300/4).
The Modifry DCI (infrared version) works with Nakamichi headunits that have
a remote control (I have a CD400). Check the install photos thread & search
the electronics forum.
here's my install:

Just a heads up....lately nakamichi decks are having issues with the cd motor dieing or not working unless it is PERFECTLY level. Not trying to knock nakamichi (no pun intended) I had an IN-DV7 which worked perfectly...but...lately my friends shop has had a bunch of 400's and 500's with the same problem.
