Default Modifry DCI + SCV, SCV not working

Everything works great so far, makes cruising a lot more comfortable. Only thing left that's bothering me is the speed controlled volume. Basically I tried accelerating/decelerating, holding at above 20, but I never see the volume change by itself. I used the included kit to T-splice the speed wire into the black/white one that the top uses for speed sensing. Is there a good way to test that my spice was good, without say trying to measure some volts while the car is moving? I remember firmly inserting , so I'm hoping I don't have to take apart the console again, but may have to, to investigate.

Also sometimes the mute button seems to get out of sync with the head unit (light on, but not muted). Normal?

Mute button - when the mute button is depressed (light on) it sends a constant +12v to the OEM headunit, which mutes
as long as it receives that signal. The DCI, however, can only send a remote control "mute" command to the aftermarket
headunit, which simply toggles mute on or off. Thus if you mute with the switch, and then unmute by hitting the mute
button on the headunit, or likely any other button on the headunit, they get out of sync.
SCV - before you start digging around your wiring, confirm that the SCV settings in the DCI are not set to "off" - you
probably know this, but there's a whole section on programming it in the DCI installation manual .

Reading the install manual, I see "If you want to completely disable the SCV function ... choose Level 0 as one of your two SCV settings and disable it via the MODE + CH buttons." so it sounds like I'd have to have reprogrammed the default settings for to set the SCV "off" right? Will check the programming again but I don't remember touching the 4 /6 defaults.

Thanks for the tip on the mute. I think it reset itself anyhow after I turned the car off/on so it's relatively simple.
