Default Modifry wired DCI

If anybody experienced this same problem, please drop in to help. This was my email to Bob from Modifry...

Hello Bob,

I've installed your wired DCI unit for my Alpine HU at Best Buy (Geek Squad) about 4 days ago. I gave him the instruction that came with your DCI unit so that it can help him do the job without errors. I stayed to watch him install my HU, component speakers, and your DCI. I noticed he did a very clean install on all of my units. With that said, we tested your DCI unit after he finished with all the installation. Eveything seems to work properly for that whole entire day. The next day when I drove to work, I realized that the volume and every other audio control unit on the dash stop working. I stop to turn off the car and restart it to see if it'll work again but had no luck. I even unplug the iPod, took out the deck face, and the DCI still doesn't work. I also changed to tuner to test the dash control by pressing all the buttons.

Day number 3: I turned on my car and realized that the dash control unit works again. I drove the car to work playing with the dash control and everything seem to work properly again. After work when I was driving home, the dash control unit stop working again. Until now (Day 4) the unit still hasn't work. I called the Best Buy installer and asked if he might have installed it wrong. He told me that if it wasn't installed correctly, then the unit wouldn't have worked in the first place, which made sense.

I checked your troubleshooting website and found nothing regarding this problem. I also posted on the S2Ki thread to ask my fellow members and non of them could elaborate on this particular problem. What should I do? Could this be a defected unit?

Thanks,
John

Meh, my MUTE button does all of jack crap but I find that the volume control lowers it VERY fast if you hold it down so I quit caring. I realize this adds nothing to your post, but thought Id chime in with a problem of my own.

intermittent problems are often caused by loose wires. The installation
may have been done correctly meaning all the wires were connected to
the right places, but the connections themselves (probably crimped
connectors) may not have been done well. Or the DCI might be bad.
Unfortunately you can't know which without taking some things apart and
testing.

My first thought was lose wires as well. I called the installer and asked him if that might be possible. He told me that he solder every wires (I watched him do it) so the lose wires is not the issues.

I believed it might be the DCI unit. I will take it back to Best Buy tomorrow to have him take a second look. If he installed it improperly, the dash control unit would not had work in the first place.

I've done a lot of research before buying and heard nothing but good reviews about the Modifry DCI. But at this point I am very disappointed that I paid over $90 for some wires that does not even work. I will find out tomorrow. Stay tuned...

IIRC there's an issue with some HU's and the DCI when the display is dimmed.
