As the title suggests, I need to get an interface for my new Nakamichi NA98s head unit. I tried emailing Bob but didn't get a response. Is the Alpine or JVC dci compatible? Are there any other options aside from the modify? Anything I can do myself? I want to get a wired DCI preferably or do something myself.

Nakamichi should use similar protocol as Clarion radios on the SWC assuming it has the 3.5mm jack for swc and not key1 key2 wires for swc input. If you wanted to use Modifry DCI, As long as you set it for Clarion it SHOULD work. You may want to contact him to confirm. For an option where you have more control/DIY you can use Maestro SWC. Down side, mute button wolnt work unless your radio has a mute wire input and you use a relay to mute the audio.
