William is right... i you keep the reigns in on it, and run it at 4 ohms, you should be ok. i generally don't recommend going over 25% of the rated power for speakers, but w/ JL they give you that range and i tend to think they are including their safety factor in there... and that would be rubbing the limit. i don't recall your install experience, but if you have a friend who is a pro and can set the gains, or if you use good techniques when setting the gains, you should be good.

if i needed a 250 Wrms sub, i'd be inclined to use the 8W3v2.

honestly, i could probably talk you through the gain setting to be conservative as well, but once set - you'd have to leave it alone... no later 'tweaking' or i cannot even begin to promise 'ok'.
the worst thing people do is after having gains setup, they go and use the loudness or bump up the bass a bunch trying to tweak it out...

hrm. -- i THOUGHT eclipse had a mid line between the Aluminum and 87001 series... you're correct though, that one is no better than the JL.

Alright, so it looks like it is down to 2 subs - the previously discussed 8W3v2 (wired to 4ohms) with conserative gain settings, or the Alphasonik PSW608 which can be found here. The Alphasonik is rated for more power and I believe it will fit in the wlaurent enclosure? My main concern is that it is a DVC 4ohm sub. This means I'm going to be at 2ohms parallel...does anyone know how much power my amp will put out @ 2ohms bridged? I e-mailed PG tech support but have not heard back. Thoughts?
