Default My Audio set-up

Well...over the past year, I've set up my audio system and I'm pleased with it. I thought that maybe I should share this with the rest of the S2k owners because my set-up is also somewhat budget.

Here are the components of it all:

Alpine 9833 HU
Polk 6.5" components in the doors
Sony 3-way 5.25" Speakers behind the seats
6.5" Bazooka Tube sub behind the driver seat

To help everything I used fairly heavy wiring.

8guage wires power/ground the HU and the Sub
12 gauge wires power/ground the door speakers (yes I COMPLETELY rewired them and it was a pain in the ass...but worth it)
16 guage to power the rear speakers

For those who would like something that just sounds very clean, I think this set-up does the trick. The bass is not too loud but really fills out the music, the mids are still there and full, and the highs are there as they always were. With the sub inside the cabin, you can really hear it, even though its small and no more disappearing bass when you are on the freeway with the top down. I primarily like to race the car so I don't want anything too big or heavy...this also saved me from getting big boxes, heavy subs...I may have only added 10-15lbs...so I liked that as well.

One problem with the sub behind the driver seat is obvious...how do you fit...well, I'm 5'7", it takes some work placing it...but I can just fit and actually I fit comfortably...I think its only 1 notch closer then I used to sit...but I don't even notice it anymore...I've had this for the past 2 months now and don't know how else I would sit. However if you are over 5'7" I don't know if this would work that well...you should try sticking something about the size of one of these subs behind there and seeing what it would be like before you go ahead and do it.

I'll also admit, this is no substitute for the big bass lovers, I'm 19, I like it...but racing is more important to me...I just wanted my music to sound "fuller" and it does now, you definitly notice the bass, and I also noticed the wiring changes. In my girlfriends car, I installed Infinity Kappa 6.5" 3ways in the doors, left the stock rear speakers and installed 2 Infinity Kappa 6x9 3ways behind the rear seats, and installed an Xplod 12" sub, and Xplod "900w" amp...The amp powers the sub and the 6x9's, an Apline 9815 HU powers the other speakers...her system sounds good and has more bass...but how much more? not TOO much, and I wouldn't say it sounds that much better.

BTW the bazooka tube started out as one of my college roommates and we made it a project to see how it would sound in the S...it sounded good enough that I decided to take it off his hands

If anybody has any questions...just ask me...

Probably Lucid's panels.

im not a fan of bazooka tubes.. i bought one (BT1028DVC), set it up in parallel (4ohms), and it blew (smoked) the speaker after 2 mins! (im running MRV-F345 Apline amp) lol i replaced the broken sub with an alpine swr-1042d which is rated at 200W-500W rms and 1000-1500W peak, and works great..

when i get my digital camera working i'll repost again.. cheers!
