Default MY04 proximity sensor location help

I'm trying to add a proximty sensor on my 2004. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to mount it? I found some pics of installs on previous years, but the sensor doesn't seem like it has enough room to mount it and put the center console back on. I also tried taking the sensor out of the casing and the only place that seems to fit is right below where the cupholders are.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

My prox. sensor fits under the center console. It's not directly under the cup/misc. stuff holder, but more under the metal framing that the center console snaps into. I believe velcro strips are used to hold it down.

Kabomo,

Thanks for the reply. Is it more towards the shifter or closer to the back of the car compared to where the cupholder is?

Thanks,
Sun

Mine is mounted under the padded section of the center console, just ahead of the accessory power plug. There's a cut-out in the sheet metal about 3x4" if I remember right.

My prox sensor is mounted in the secret compartment, in the larger of the two compartments. Works well.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up mounting it underneat the cupholders as I couldn't find anywhere else. The padded section didn't seem like it had enough room as the sliding door for the cupholer ran into that area. Seems to be working fairly well. There is a bit of metal surrounding the area, but it seems to pick up motion. I'll keep testing.

Hey Sund,

Sorry...forgot to check back. But mine is located toward the back under the padded side. It seems to fit with a lot of room around it...I wonder what kind of sensor you have.
