Proximity Sensor Placement?
Hi, I have a Viper 5900 alarm system in my S. I'm going to get a proximity sensor but I'm wondering what the bet place is to mount the sensor itself. I know that a popular place to put it is in the center console area but most of what I've read is for an AP1. The AP2 center console (under the leather elbow pad) is slightly different.
My friend had a DEI prox sensor installed there, they had to cut metal to get it in, and it works HORRIBLY. Probably the worst thing I'd ever want. I've heard people getting them to work well by mounting them in the secret compartment? But I don't quite understand where and what position.
Any advice is appreciates

Hey,
I was told by my installer not to get because it has so many false alarms. Like if the wind hits your top and your top moves, it will go out. Just something to think about.

I know about all the short comings of them but in the area where my car is I'd like to get one. But I need to find a good location. Does anyone know any more about the place to put them behind the hidden compartment?

its not a good idea to put it surrounded by metal, its going to mess up the sensors. and it doesnt go off like crazy, thats only if you are setting it wrong. as to where to put it, you should try to center it as much as possible.

I've got one and I rarely get false alarms. The only real issue is the rain seems to either set off my shock or my proxy sensor. I haven't determined which one it is yet. I've got mine placed under the steering wheel close to the center console. Works great.
