The only time my knuckles would even get close to the screen is if my han were to slip off the shifter... and in that case, it would hit any HU in that location...

Its within an inch or so wen fully extended to eject/accept DVD/CDs, and I do not / would not drive around with it in that position. Ad even in that case, only 3rd gear even gets close...

I have mine in, here is the picture. I really need to build a custom enclosure to go around the unit but it works AWESOME! I'm so happy I ripped out the vents to put this in.
