Need 4 channel bridgeable amp recommendations please
Hey all,
I'm looking for a single amp to drive my system (currently under design).
I'm going to run seperates up front in the stock 2002 speaker locations, and a 10" sub in the toolkit well.
I'm looking for an amp that can deliver 100+ watts to each front channel and I can bridge the two rear channels together to drive the sub. Preferably with 300 watts.
A built in crossover in the amp would be much desired.
If anyone has any other suggestions regarding the amp, please feel free to voice them.

I just bought an Eclipse 5422 which is pretty close to those specs...have not tested it out though. I believe it is pushing 85 watts to the front and 250-300 for the sub. Crossovers built in.
SoundDomain has some of the Phoenix Gold amps on sale for good prices here. Although a bit under the power levels you mentioned, the Phoenix Gold amps are generally under rated a fair amount. The Tantrum 600.4 would probably be fine and if you're looking for a super clean amp the Ti 500.4 would be nice.
They have an excellent rep and they're made right here in my hometown Portland, OR by the same company that makes Carver home audio.

I had the same requirements when I was picking out my system. I went with the PPI PCX-480. Rated 4x80rms @ 4Ohms. I then selected Boston Acoustic Pro Series components for frnot speakers. Since they are only 3 Ohms, they draw more power from the amp, probably close to 120W rms. And the other two channels are available to bridge for a subwoofer in the future. Bridged into 4 Ohms, it can push 320W rms, which is more than adequate for my taste.
My understanding is that PPI was a very respected brand 10 years ago, but may not be as much at the forefront today. Still, the price was good and it's a solid piece for what I needed.
The PPI is a little on the larger side, but any amp that can really push this kind of power is going to be. A 1000W rms amp will never fit in a box the side of a deck of playing cards.

Thanks, I would be very happy with a Phoenix Gold amp, my other first choice would be Precision Power.
Are the cooling fans quiet enough so you won't hear them in the car? I'm mounting it under the roof well.
