Need amp recommendation for a noobie
Hello s2ki folks, I'm a noobie to the audio world and I am needing some advice on what amp I should get for 2 of these Infinity Reference 1052w subs from crutchfield shown here on this link http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1081052W/Infi...ty+1052w&tp=111. I have a Pioneer DEH-P6100BT HU and I have stock speakers on the doors. I will upgrade the doors later but right now I just need advice on an amp for the sub setup. Thank you.
First of all, that is a crappy sub.
Just because you can get the 2nd at 50% doesn't mean you should buy 2 subs.
2 subs = 2x crappier sounds.
Second, where are you going to place 2 10" subs in the trunk ??
They don't premade 2 10" sub box and to get a custom one is $$$$.
1 quality sub + $75 ebay box is less money than 2 crappy subs + custom box.
The S2000 is so small that 1 quality 10" sub is more than plenty.
I think if are adding an amp, you should be upgrading the front speakers than adding a sub.

Well, I'm not too knowledgeable on subs but I dont mind these at all they sound descent I'm not out too pay for theater surround sound in a convertible. Also I have ordered 2 V1 sub boxes from darksidesubs and those will fit just fine in my car. I am not really here for any criticism on my setup. Maybe its just how I want it. I am just looking for some advice on what amp I should get for these subs and if you cant help me your just useless banter to me. Thank you.
Look for a mono (single channel) amplifier that will deliver 500 watts at 1 ohm.
If you are buying the subs from Crutchfield, ask them to recommend an amp. In my experience their advisors have usually been helpful, friendly and knowledgeable (sp?). It's in their interest to make sure you get the right one.
And don't forget to ask about a wiring kit (very important!) Crutchfield should be able to hook you up with that stuff as well.
If you want to do some of the research yourself, their web site also has lots of good tutorials.
Good luck and enjoy!
