Default Opinions on Polk Components & Sub

I'm considering these items for my S2000:

Polk Audio MM 2104 10" 4-ohm Sub
Polk Audio db6500 6-1/2" Component System

I can get both for $300 from Crutchfield, and they both have great reviews. But I've never heard them. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I have a JL 300/4 amp to power them both, so 75 watts to the components and 150 to the sub.

I have a JL 10" sub but it blew

Please share your thoughts/opinions.

Thanks!

No help?

I've done some searching and investigating. I don't think I can go wrong with the db6500s. However, I can't find much on the sub.

My biggest concern is if it will work well in my current sub box. It was built for a JL W3 10, which I believe required around .625 cu ft. I believe the Polk requires .66 so I think the box will be ok.

If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks!

The only advice I have on offer is listen to them. You really can't make judgments on any speakers without using your ear test. I'd also suggest bringing sample music of you listen to. This should make the differences in speakers more obvious. Polk is a solid speaker with a great reputation. You would not be the first to go with this set-up. At the same time, speaker sound is an individual taste. You got to go with what's best for you.

A word of caution: Some stereo places will connect things differently to make certain speakers sound better. Ask questions as to how each are connected and amplification, etc. Most stores are on the level, but a healthy curiousity isn't such a bad thing.

A second word of caution: Decide on your budget and flexibility to increase. There's nothing that sucks more than listening to your favourite Speaker A for $300, then listening to Speaker B for $400, and realise how much better Speaker B is! There always going to be something better, it's just where do you stop.

Good luck. Enjoy the process.

As mentioned, you should listen to them to determine if you really like them. With that said, I'm very happy with my Polk Audio Momo Carbon 6500s, especially for the price I paid for them!
