need help, midbass not working??
my driver-side Focal 165w midbass is not working (no sound coming out of it), i checked all the connections but everything seems ok. Fade/balance is at zero, tweeters and the other midbass are all working fine, amp is good. what could be the problem here?
btw, the component is hooked to the OEM HU.

Cross your speaker wires left/right at the amplifier to rule out a bad amp channel. If the problem follows the amp channel, you've found the culprit. If not, use a meter to check the resistance to through the wires and speaker. If there's a break somewhere, you'll read infinite ("OL" on most digital meters). If this is the case, you'll need to figure out if it's a cut wire somewhere or a problem in the speaker itself. You can measure resistance through each conductor separately, and through the speaker itself.
Also, if you have crossovers, you may want to swap the 2 as a test. I've personally run into situations where a wire appeared to be properly connected to a crossover, but wasn't making good contact.

Well I'll tell you a little story..... this happened to my brother last year.
He was reworking his system again of rlike the millionth time
for reference I think he's on his 7th or 8th time now...he changes it around for the fun of it..
whatever... anyway we installed a brand new set of Alpine seperates into the doors. Yes they we're wired correctly,... but a little bit of water got down into the door and "shorted" out the speaker. I tell you this story because it sounds exactly like what's happening to you. All of a sudden one day it just stopped and the only thing that looked out of place was the back of the speaker was a little damp. We checked out everything twice and it was just the speaker crapped out for some weird reason.
Moral of the story just connect another speaker to the leads in the door, if it lights up.... bad speaker

Sorry to hear that but at least you know the culprit. You can try to bring the speaker back to the dealer you got it from and see if they can help you out in some way, unless of course you got it on the net
in which your most likely screwed
