If the Denali has the old school steering column shifters (and if Revhi is correct, which he probably is) regarding the shifter issue, you can just cut the shifter...make it shorter, and screw on another knob to it.....Easiest way out IMHO.

I checked it out last night and there is no way the shifter will be in the way when in drive. It is possible that there might be interference when in Park, and an even smaller chance when in reverse.

I do have a column shifter, but there is a button for the Tow/Haul mode on the end of the shifter, so I cannot simply cut it short. I would have to fab up something interesting for the swich. Not rocket science by any means, but not something I REALLY want to tackle.

It just occured to me that the difference might be the location of the tilt wheel. I didn't check it through the full range of motion. (I am not sure if the shifter moves with the tilt anyway.) But it will clear (at least in D) at the position I like the column.

This is going to be a SICK install when it's all done. (Which I expect to take years, for no other reason then I have too many things competeing for my spending dollar.) Indash screen (HU) Headrest monitors for the second row passengers, drop down screen for the third row people, stealth sub, new speakers all around and some decent power amps for the whole thing. Navi, rear view, iPod, video games, DVD. It's going to be fun.
