New HU, DCI mute problem
So when I purchased my car it had an aftermarket HU already w/ the infrared DCI already setup and working fine. So after I replaced it with my new head unit all of the controls worked fine for a good 2 weeks. Then I took out a pioneer cellphone mute acessory that automaticall mutes the radio w/ an incoming call (In the city it's a pain b/c of the proximity of all the other cars, it would trigger the unit). So once I remove that, the mute function on the DCI no longer works.
I traced the wiring to a relay under the dash (I can audibly hear it click everytime I hit the button) yet it does not trigger the mute on the radio. Did I mess something up taking out the accessory?? When I removed it there were 4 wires...a power, ground, remote lead, and mute lead which were all spliced into the HU wires. I removed them and crimped the wires back together.
Did I miss something here??

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that the mute lead from the
dash went to the input for the cell mute, then the output for that
went to the DCI mute input.
I think you'd need to make sure that the mute wire from the dash
is reconnected directly to the mute input of the DCI. If you have
the Modifry DCI,

says that the dash mute wire is the yellow/blue wire in the car's radio
harness, and needs to ultimately attach to the purple wire heading
into the DCI.

First off, be sure you actually have a Modifry DCI. The DCI mute does not use a relay, so if you are hearing a "click" that is a sign that either the previous owner did some re-wiring on his own or you don't have a DCI.
If you hold the MODE button and hit Volume Up and the HU does something like "Next Track" or "Seek Up" then you have a DCI. Other products don't do multiple-button functions.

I think maybe the relay was custom wired in to switch the mute functions between the cell phone adapter and the DCI control, but I really dont know...
do you have rear speakers?
I believe the Lucid-supplied harness adaptors for adding rear speakers
to the stock headunit had some sort of relay as apparently the mute
wouldn't mute the rear speakers otherwise. If you have rears, maybe
the P.O. first added rears, then added an aftermarket headunit without
removing the now unnecessary relay.
How many adaptor harnesses do you have chained together? at this
point you should have:
a plug that plugs into the back of your headunit, spliced to a plug which
goes into the car's harness. if you have yet another harness between
your radio and the car, it's time to simplify...
