Default need help - not too happy with my sound

just installed a soundstream 414s amp - I have the s-pods with Diamond speakers in the rear and some candice speakers up frt (planning on upgrading the a/d/s/ this weekend) and a pioneer 640 -

either it has way too much base or it's too tinnie

the system sounds ok with the mp3 player

worse with a cd

and even worse with x-m

I assume i need to set the gains on the amp

Thanks

1st. Make sure the crossover on your amp is adjusted to the correct settings.

The "tinnieness" should be relieved with the new fronts. No point in dialing in the ones you have, if they are to be replaced shortly... Wait until you get your new fronts before you mess with those crossovers; you need to adjust the crossovers that come with the components in order to achieve optimal sound.

As far as the bass is concerned, adjust your gain on the amp itself and play with the Hu's EQ or crossover. Give yourself some extra bass and then fine tune it with the HU controls. I looked for the Pioneer 6400 , you have a great EQ with it and you should be able to dial in custom EQ's for each type of music you like. I think it comes standard with a plethora of settings, but you are better off making your own. BTW: how does thePioneer 6400 fit into an s2k, with that fold up screen?

Phil and Dave can walk you thru the "dialing in" procedure as they have methods that I am curious to learn. Dialing in a system is very important and there are many opinions on how to do it properly.
