Need help picking an AMP!,
Hey everyone
Needing car audio gurus help!
I am in the process of adding some much needed upgrade with my car audio.
I am looking for some good recommendations for an amp that will do the job with my set up!
Here is what I have so far..I've been told I need an amp that can bridge 250-500 rms @ 2 ohms for my dual voice sub.
Alpine 136BT head unit
Polk Audio DB6501 components
Memphis sub SC10D4 ( dual voice coil)
About to order footwell sub from Andy...
Any help is appreciated...
Thanks
Gus

Im not sure your budget, but the Alpine MRX-F65 might be a good option. If you have more cash the get the Alpine PDX-F4

I assume you [the original poster] are looking for a 4-channel amp, in which you intend to bridge two
of the channels for the sub, and use the other two for the fronts.
The tricky thing is that most amps are not 2-ohm stable when bridged.
Boston Acoustics GT-series are, or were, because I believe they have been
discontinued.
You may have luck with a 3-channel amp, which has a dedicated sub channel.

2 separate amps would be better, however the Alpine PDX-F4 can handle the 2 ohm load. You can use the 2 front channels for the doors and bridge the rears for the sub. If you haven't purchased the sub yet get a dual 2ohm sub, that way you can wire it for a 4 ohm load.
I looked at the Alpine PDX-F4 and I can't seem to find out what the RMS will be on 2 ohms for 2 channels....
My Memphis dual voice coil can do 300w RMS that's why...
If it can handle both my sub and components then I will def look at this amp...

Yeah I didn't see it listed. I'm not sure what the output would be for 2ohm. I know its 2 ohm stable, but its best to email Alpine or just call them and ask. They are very good about providing that info.
