Default Need some help on choosing a dash control interface

Hi everyone,
I have had my 2004 S2000 for a few months now and I am looking to replace the head unit. I love the dash controls and will be
purchasing a unit with a radio and ipod controls (no CD). I have read that many people use the Modifry dash control interface, but it changes the way the dash controls work. Is there anything else out there that will maintain the same functions of the dash controls?
Thanks

to piggy-back on this -- about one that allows you to program a button as "answer" for bluetooth calls.

from what i understand, the modifry one does all the things the stock controls do plus a few more.

there is another on the market (i forget what its called) for a little cheaper but i hear it sucks.

for me, its not that hard to reach down and push a button.

I have installed the Modifry and the generic dci. Do not waste your money on the generic (programable) one - they do suck and are much larger than the Modifry one. Think match book and matchbox car - the modifry one is easy to find a place to stash it inside the dash - I had issues fitting the generic one in the dash with the HU>

I'd strongly suggest the Modifry DCI. Forcing yourself to relearn the buttons isn't that bad IMO and not worth dealing with lesser DCI's and their issues.

Get the modifry. It doesn't change the controls at all, it just ADDS a few extra functions by combining buttons. For instance, holding one button and pushing UP on the volume goes to the next track, etc. Something the OEM controls can't do. Get it, and don't waste your money on other crappy ones.

Actually the functionality of the dash controls does change with the Modifry DCI. You can find the details on the web site. While all stock functionality remains, the way the controls work does change somewhat. You can actually review the changes depending on the brand of HU you want to buy to see exactly what changes. I choose a Kenwood HU because I liked the way the dash controls work with that brand. I'd definitely go with the Modifry DCI, it's a great device. I especially like the automatic volume adjustment that works off the RPM value. Volume goes up as the engine speed goes up and vice versa. And the settings are very customizable.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I will go with the Modifry as soon as I get the head unit.

You hook this up and program the unit to send the signal that the remote control unit sends out. Best part is that if you wish to do something DIFFERENT you just re-program it. Heck if you wanted you could have the up and down controls change stations if you wanted. It's all based on the signal that the remote you have sends out.

I have the very first original unit in my car. The newer versions are even better now. I was the first one to make it actually work in an S2000 even before the MFG got it right.

There is plenty of wire and room under the dash to hide this thing so don't worry about concealing it.
