anybody know of any headunits out there that has a usb flash drive hook up and will let me close the radio door?

There are too many models that can do that. What you need to look for is a higher end model that has the USB input behind the HU, so that you can run a USB extension cable to where you want to hide the USB drive

 

thanks for the input... but what is really important to me is being able to close the radio door... i have an eclipse head unit with the usb drive but am unable to close the door due to the volume knob sticking out too far... i guess what i really need is a super slim head unit with a usb drive... anybody know of any?

most headunits that simply stick out a little too far can be made to
clear the door by expanding the holes in the mounting brackets to give
you a little extra clearance. What headunit do you have? Someone
here may be able to guide you around the specific headunit.
