Default A new Audio setup.

Well, the S2000 sound system is, well. Less than perfect. I have been dealing with the stock speakers for a year now and I think my ears are about to fall off. Right when I got the car the first thing I did was put a K&N filter on it, second the head unit. I am running a Pioneer deh-P8400BH. I am happy with it so don't sell me on another one. Second, I had some ds series kicker components laying around. They have been sitting in my garage for a little over 2 years now. I take my panel off to install, and well... the mid range driver has a crack straight across the cone. Not really upset, they are definitely cheap speakers. But it gave me an excuse to buy better!! So after just taking a stroll through best buy for the fun of it, I go to the kiosk and type my car in to see what speakers will fit and scroll all the way down to the most expensive speakers they have. The Pioneer TS-D1720C is the ones I bought and price matched for $91.95 on Amazon. (They were at Best Buy for $229.99). I immediately thought they were great speakers, I mean 200 dollars for speakers is quite a bit imo. I haven't installed them yet as I am waiting for my little power block to come in. (They were out of stock) It is the Alpine KTP-445U. It was $149.99 but price matched for $109. I figured I would do this because I do not want to run wires for a system, I have done many of them and it is just a hassle for me. So my question is, with this setup, will it be enough for me? Like I mentioned I have done plenty of systems in my past cars, but do not want to run a sub in my S. I just want good bass response and mid range with crystal clear highs. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Also the Alpine block is bridgeable to 2 channels, which is all I would use. 45 Watts RMS and the speakers are rated at 60 or 65 watts RMS. When bridging the little bity amp it produces a whopping 90 watts RMS, which for this little guy not needing to be hooked up to the battery I think is incredible. Will that effect the quality for the poor side if I bridge? Or should I just keep it at the 45 watt RMS? Any help, insight, or recommendations on other stuff if this is not the way to go is appreciated. I thought it was about time for some new audio, as my HU is the only thing giving me decent sound right now.

Okay, I got them installed and with the alpine power pack. My only question is now, if anyone can answer it. The speakers seem to rattle when low bass comes into play, I have to turn the hpf on 50 to get it to stop, and even sometimes when you have a loud kick drum in music you'll hear it pop once in a while. Could this be due to the quality of speakers or the amp? They sound good whenever it is not rattling when the low bass kicks in. I just like to have a wide range of frequency and I don't have a sub yet. So should I replace them with better speakers? Or is it due to the amp? I have been hearing about the Hertz HSK 165XL. Although the price jumps up quite a bit with these. Should I spend the extra money? Or will all component speakers do this when presented too much bass?

The KTP-445U is bridgeable to 90Wrms per channel, has RCA line level inputs, and requires a 15 amp fused wire to battery power. That should drive your component speaker set to loud volume before distortion kills the sound quality. However, even 90W to a 6.5" midwoofer will not give much bass response. For that you need a subwoofer driven by at least 250W.

How well was the speaker installed? Any sound deadening? Lots of variables involved.

I did not use any sound deadning. I secured the spacer pretty tight and the woofer to that. Could it be the brackets rattling? Or would it be the actual speaker. I know I know what a speaker rattle sounds like and I believe it is that. I might take the panels off and be sure the bracket isn't rattling but I'm almost certain I have it tightened down hard enough.
