Default No sound

So I was driving along the other day and all of a sudden I lost all sound from all speakers . Could use the group's help troubleshooting this.

I recently replaced the OEM HU in my my05 with an Apine 9851 (with Sirius sat if that makes any difference) and replaced the door speakers with Infinity 6010cs components. Everything was working great for a week and then the speakers just stopped. The head unit appears to be working - tracking CDs, pulling down sattelite into, etc. I wasn't fiddling with it when it stopped...it just stopped. Checked fuses and they appear fine. Do you think it could be a bad ground? Wouldn't that cause the HU to stop functioning? Thanks for any help.

Not sure about this Alpine Model, check to see if the internal amp is on...

My guess:

Remove the removable face and reseat it.
OR
Press the reset button under the faceplate.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the quick response guys. The S2KI community here is awesome, makes owning this great car even better.

Anyhow, I removed the faceplate and didn't help. Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not sure how to check the internal amp, think its in the setup menu under P-IC (which shows ON) but not sure. Also I can't find a reset button. I'll post a pic of the plate under faceplate tomorrow and maybe you can show me. Thanks for the guidance.

Check the wires in the back of the headunit...very rarely do speakers drop out for no reason, so something is causing it.

Do you have aftermarket speakers....?

Take the HU out for a sec, and inspect the back of it. Make sure everything is attached. Make sure the fan on the back of the headunit is spinning. After that, report back here, and we'll go from there.

Well NFRs2000NYC, looks like you're onto it here. I pulled the HU and turns out the fan is NOT spinning.

I do have aftermarket speakers.

By the way, here's the pick of the front panel behind the faceplate. I'm I missing the reset somewhere?

Any ideas? Is it a bad HU? Is there someway to maybe reset this thing?

Yes..theer is a button (either at the back of at the front (withouth the faceplate) that says reset and needs to be hit with a ballpoint pen. Hopefully, that will take care of the problem.

If not, try scrolling though the menu and making sure INT is ON not off.

well, it turns out the head is OK. Tested it independant of the speakers and it works fine. So I'm guessing the HU must go into a failsafe of sorts with a short in the speakers. Guess I'll be popping the door panels off tonight and rewiring. Happy Memorial Day to all!

well...some good news and some bad.

first, figured out what the problem was. Looks like a short in the drivers side sub/mid door speaker. I think the soldered connections were sitting against the metal door frame (I have them mounted in the Lucid gasket mounts). I fixed and drove back from the garage, then went to back into the garage I store the s in and closed my door and I guess the speaker shifted enough to short out again. Oh well, I guess I should have known enough to tape over those connections.

And by the way, I still don't see any reset button on this thing, even though the manual clearly makes reference to a reset function in the troubleshooting section. Just doesn't actually show or tell where the damn thing is.

Thanks for all the help.
