Thumbs down No Sound! WTH! Help Please...

My speakers shut off on me today.
I have a distribution block and another inline fuse under the hood.
The inline fuse looks fine, it looks like a regular fuse and is a 30.
The distribution block has a flat tab looking fuse and looks fine as well.
When I turn my stereo on, i can hear a crackle/electrical noise from my front speakers for a second and then they shut off. My sub seems to be the only speaker working, as it still thumps. I turned the deck on and off a bunch of times. It actually started working fine for about 30 seconds and then it shut off again!
Any suggestions?

my setup:
Alpine deck 9856(I think...cost about $200)
Directed amp, sub and wiring kit.
Orion front component set.

Pull the HU out and check your wiring, also check your wiring around your amp/crossovers, probably a short somewhere.

I can't tell from your description whether or not you are running the components and the sub off the same amp, or just the sub off the amp, or jsut the fronts? If the fronts are on an amp by themselves, make sure the amp is getting power, etc.

posting what i sent so everyone can see....

ok soo it can be a number of things. so try these and lemme know what works and what does.
first go to the amp , turn the radio on , unplug one rca , see if the speakers work , next plug that rca back in and unplug the other one , see if it works... next unhook one set of speaker wires , see if it works , then hook the one back up , unhook the other... next if it still doesn't work do this. get a 9v battery... turn the car off , unhook the speaker wire from the amp , take the 9v battery and hook 1 speaker up to it , take one of the wires and tap it to the battery to make the speaker "pop" if it pops then the speaker works if it doesn't it's either blown or the wiring is bad. next do it to the other speaker. if everything works fine the next thing you need to test is your rcas. do this but pulling the radio and just hooking up a new set (don't "run" them tho incase the rcas aren't the problem you don't want to go through the work of putting new ones in) next if it's still not working or you haven't figured out the problem plug the RCAs into the "rear" output of the car. if it works then your RCA front output is bad. if it doesn't work it's prolly your amp. good luck!

Thanks for the help imdarkrider.
I toomk it back to the shop that did my install and it turned out to be a damaged(grounded?) wire in one of the front speakers. Needless to say, I got tunes again!
