I belive the Optima and "niche" batteries deal with high drain much better than normal batteries. For instance, runnning multiple high powered amps in the parking lot... or at a show. Also something to do with charging faster or more thoroughly. At least that was my understanding from a few years back when the Optima Red was introduced.
