Great thread

Standard Viper w/prox the only trick I did is rewire the glove box switch to only work when the ignition is on.

Aren't you worried about the valet guys though? Not like I'd trust those guys anyway, but sometimes it's mandatory that they park for you.

A valet has never and WILL never park my car! Three of my good friends were valets to pay their way through college I know a lot of horror stories....thats all I will say.. A valet has never and WILL never park my car! If the place wants your business, and you refuse to have a valet touch your car they are going to find a spot for you.

This is my program also - What I do is drive right up and park in one of the premium valet spots, hop out, lock it and hand the guy a five-spot. Every once in a while they will ask me for the keys "in case they have to move it" and I politely tell them, "Not a chance."

^^^^ I hear what you guys are saying. My friend just got a side job as a valet and he in no way has any experience or has ever learned to drive a manual car. But I guess he'll be learning now...

I like to hear this whole thing about the immobilizer key because I had no idea that the S2K comes with one, considering I don't own one yet. But there's a good chance that I will be owning one within 2 months (I really hope), so I just want to know in advance to be better prepared.

Thanks for your help,
Andre
I never saw the S2000 as an appealing target for theft. I'm talking the whole car here.

In decreasing order of incidents, this is about what you would expect in property loss with an S2000:

1. Rubber antenna stolen
2. Emblems
3. Soft top vandalism
4. Keying the car
5. Seats/Shift knob (usually go together)
6. HID or tail lights
7. The whole car (usually found later, stripped)

People don't seem all that interested in the wheels for some reason.

Locktite will help take care of #1, but antenna thefts seem to be on a decline recently. A good proximity alarm will help take care of most of the others

PM Kodokan_4 about seat locks to prevent seat theft. Considering that it can cost over $10,000 to repair a slashed top and replace missing seats these (under $70) items can save a lot of cash.

Well, my Rio was parked outside my Florida condo armed with a viper system with mercury tilt switch. Damn thing was stolen completely and found the next morning completely stripped. Also had seat locks and wheel locks but it was probably just towed away on a flatbed. From what I'm reading now that I plan to replace it is that alarms are only annoying to the neighbors. RELCO sells a product that they claim after 3.5 million sold not one car has been stolen! Also plan to get a pager system so that it notifies me and not the neighborhood. Still working on a towing deterrant. Don't laugh, but I also just bought a tazer gun and dyed pepper spray so when the beeper goes off the bastards will experience some shock and awe.
