Default Pic Request: JL sub in secret compart

Hey guys, I'm looking for ideas for a small sub install and a remember a superclean setup with an (8"?) jl sub in the secret compartment.

It pointed toward the back and was even finished off with stitched leather. does anyone have a link or a pic of this setup? thanks in advance.

I can see giving up the secret compartment but not the glove box too!

You could build a similar setup using a 6" sub driver and keep the glove box. You'll lose a little space inside the glovebox but not much. You could even build it so that you could keep the cover the same on top. If you look at the one in the pictures the sides next to the sub are cut up pretty bad. All of this could be avoided if you use a sub that would fit within the secret compartment space.

A 6" sub isn't going to have the same output as a 10" in the trunk, but it would be within the cabin space and close to both passengers in the cabin of the car. Tuned right it could sound pretty nice.

Maybe I'll build one over the next few weeks just as an example. I'll have to order a 6" sub, to play with as I have an extra compartment laying around.

I wonder if one could get a 6" sub into the top of the secret compartment lid. I'm sure it would have to be reinforced and sealed.

That's where I'm gonna put it. So the box will be just the upper section of the center console. The goal is to keep the lower glovebox section 'mostly" intact, or totally intact.... just depends on the cubic feet I need to use.

I was looking into a 8" sub to fit in the secret compartment only. It's possible to put a small one in there with small enclosure requirement. The ones that I'm looking at:

Critical Mass SS82
ED 9k v3
ID8
JLW8W3 v3

ok I've ordered a shallow mount Kicker 08 CVT65 for this project. I ordered this because it was 1. affordable so if this doesn't work I won't care that its going to sit on the shelf, 2. It was a shallow mount design (only 2 13/16" deep and can be setup to be even shallower) and 3. I've used and installed Kicker subs in the past and I've liked the output.

General info on the sub:
Peak Power Handling 300 Watts
RMS Power Range 150 Watts
Impedance 4Ohms
Frequency Response 25-350Hz
Cone Material Injection molded polymineral
Surround Material Ribbed Santoprene
