PIE Hon-Aux getting interference sound even with ground loop isolator
i hooked up the hon-aux to the head unit with a ground loop isolator but i'm still getting a interference sound. The only thing i didnt do is i didnt ground the ground wire provided on the hon-aux to the car. But it says that i dont have to use the ground wire if i plan to draw power from the car with my portable device (iPod) which i was. So do u guys know why is there a interference sound even with a ground loop isolator (from Radio Shack)? Also, how do i ground the ground wire to the car? what dose it mean to ground something? Sorry, i dont know anything about car audio.
try grounding the PIE Hon Aux ground lead.
grounding means that you're attaching that wire to a metal structural element of the car. if you look up under the dash, you'll see a couple places where there are bundles of black wires all tied into a bolt in the car body. that's an example of a ground.
let us know what happens.
