Default Pioneer DEH-X8800BHS - volume knob issues?

I am looking to get a new HU that supports BT and rear USB - the Pioneer is on the short list but I'm concerned the volume knob stop the cover from closing.

Can anyone with this head unit chime in regarding this / install issues?

You should be okay. My Alpine has a similar knob and it doesn't interfere with the door.

For those who are wondering - installed it today and it is WORLDS better than the stock radio. I actually can enjoy listening to music now. And it fits with the stock brackets, took a long time to figure out the right position to put them in, but it fits now just like stock, works perfectly with Modifry DCI / speed sensitive volume.

Quick question: Did you just replace the HU or did you install speakers, etc.? Getting ready to pick up an '08 AP2 and looking to replace the HU but want to still have stock dash controls, etc. Looking for a recommendation ..

Thanks.

I only replaced the HU, and used the Modifry radio harness, and DCI, with speed controlled volume feature. There is a noticeable improvement in sound quality, and obviously, bluetooth audio, rear USB, and front USB are a huge plus. The HU fits like stock (though it took me a good bit of time to figure out how to mount the bracket on the HU itself), and I like the HU. The Modifry dash control works great as well, though it takes a little getting used to as some of the buttons are a little different from stock. The SCV feature is programmable from Modifry and I've found SCV settings that work well for my car.

Only complaints are - I have two phones saved on the HU. Sometimes it has trouble switching between the phones and I have to re-pair them. Other than that, I have no complaints, and can fully recommend this setup on an otherwise stock audio system.

HTH

Love the X8800BHS. Also loved that you can match the exact color of the dash lights for the LEDs. Great sound too. No knob interference at all.
