Default please help, i turn the volume passed 20 and hu turns off?

like the title says, i have a kenwood kdc hd545u head unit powering 2 polk speakers. a jl amp powering a w6 10"sub. i took my car to the shop, and they called and told me the battery had died. i knew the battery was weak and was going to need to be replaced. they replaced the battery and today i picked up the car. i turn on the radio and reprogram all my settings/stations and i start to turn the volume up, when i get to 20 its fine and as soon as it goes to 21 it cuts off and the radio will come back on then cut off again. it will stay on as long as i keep the volume under 20. it seems to be going into a protect mode, does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? it was working perfect before i took it to the shop.
thanks in advance for any assistance.

If I'm not mistakened, Kenwood radio's actually have a protect mode, where it will say Protect on the screen. You may want to check the terminals on the speaker and make sure they're not grounding out on the door itself. If you go as far as pulling off the door panels, you may as well test the speakers to make sure they're reading 4 ohms.

i put in the stock radio and cranked it up with no problems, i disconnect the amp completely and with the kenwood installed and it still cuts out. i am still searching for a solution. maybe the hu got messed up with a surge or something when they put in the new batter?
