Please help me make a system. Budget is 1500 about
It is my weekend car. Do you think I am over doing this? I dont have to spend that kind of money. It is just what I thought I needed. I cruise a lot in my car and I am sick of listening to that crappy stock system.
Do you mind me asking why you dont sell those bundles anymore?
My head is spinning here with all these options that I do not have expertise on. I appreciate your help very much...but I still have no idea what I should buy. What else do you need to know so that you guys can make more recomendations?
Thanks,
Vinnie

Well I stopped selling them because I went through a bad time and I just couldn't do it. I'm thinking about doing it again... but with my new job time will be an issue for me. I'll still do them here and there for people that ask but if I did it all the time I'll need to be a sponsor on here again and its very expensive.
I would suggest getting a nice HU, nice front speakers, a sub and a nice 4 channel amp (run the front channels and bridge the rear channels to run the sub)
But you figure $400 for the HU, $250 for front speakers, $150-200 for the sub, $300 for the amp and say $60 for wiring it all. You need to add couple hundred for a sub box... or you can make your own. So you should be all set for your system with $1500 to spend.
I'll make a list of stuff that might work for you.

Well, here's what I went with to give you an idea of one direction you could go. Like others have mentioned, the components I like may or may not be the components you like, so go listen to them, and then save money by buying them online!
Alpine iDA-X100 head unit $250 shipped on ebay (new)
Modifry DCI/PnP harness ~$120 shipped
Polk MMC-6500 Speakers $180 shipped from Crutchfield (new)
Alpine PDX-2.150 Amp $103 shipped on ebay (used)
Alpine PDX-1.600 Amp $229 shipped on ebay (used)
Boston G510 Sub $184 shipped on ebay (new)
Wlaurent box custom fit $220, but no longer available
Knukonceptz wiring kit, ~$100 shipped.
plus additional wiring and
distribution block since I
did 2 amps.
That comes out to approximately $1386 for my system and I am very happy with it. I originally went with a PDX-4.150 amp, but channels 3/4 bridged weren't putting out enough to drive that G510 to my liking. My friend, however, has the same amp with a G310 sub running off 3/4 and it sounds great.
The small size of the PDX amps makes them a great choice for our cars, and two of them fit side by side perfectly on a carpeted board in the trunkwell.

InterHat has a lot of good suggestions.
I ran ID for a long time (IDQ 10's, IDQ 12's, Chamealons). Also ran Coustic, Sony, Pioneer, Alpine, DB Drive.
I graduated to the Diamond Hex series door speakers, an Audison amp for them. A disabled (pulled the remote line) JL 500/1 for the sub, and currently no sub (blew my last IDQ and haven't put another in). I'm looking into a few different subs (including the FI and Stereo Integrity 12's) at the time being.
Ultimately, when it comes down to the door speakers, it's all a matter of your own personal preference. I love my Diamonds. They hit very low for a 2-way component set and are very clear with the highs without being overly harsh (silk dome tweets).
As far as my HU's go...I've had Sony, JVC, Alpine, and Eclipse. Hands down, I love the Eclipse. Can't beat the SQ and I actually really prefer the menus and aesthetics. I know, I know...going against the current Alpine craze - but Alpine's are known for their characteristic 3-5k harshness that I just couldn't deal with anymore. Eclipse has a very linear curve to it's playback.
Just my $0.02
