AusS2000 - yes, my 600 has dedicated sub outs that I used for the Bazooka low level line inputs. I think that the only difference b/w the 600 and the 750 is the ability to adjust the soundstage? I am using the amp from the 600 to drive the front speakers and am very happy with the sound. I don't want to go too loud as I already have tinnitus and don't want it to get worse

I'll also check where my speakers are manufactured tonight when I get home. I have the three way....I think that they are 62mm mounting depth and they are fine once you cut the back out of the basket. I hot melt glued the back of a plastic sorbet container to the back to act as a 'pseudo basket'. Drilled holes for venting and it works perfectly!

2Kturkey - not sure about the equivalent model. I did originally buy the Polk EX602a's. Stereo guy at the store said that they would bolt right in with no mods. What a crock of shite! Not only would they not bolt right in as they were too deep for the factory baskets, but the circumference of the mounting holes was greater than the circumference of the OEM holes on the basket.

Took those fu#$ers right back and got the Sony's!! Even though I had to cut the back of the baskets out, at least they screwed right in perfectly first go.

By the way, just got an email from Dave (DavidM). He's in San Diego right now for work for this week. He says to say hi to you all!

Cheers,

Thanks for the update guys. I have to admit I am just as confused as ever though.

I went down to JB Hi-Fi last night to check out what they have in stock. They also have another series of Xplods called the GT series - these are 3 way devices which seem to fall between the 1620s and the 1635s in price but I dunno about performance. They look nothing like the speakers on the US Sony site (P.S. you can check out the Oz and US SONY sites and compare pictures of each but this doesn't help). By the way AUS they have the Sony 222 amp for sale at $A169 which seems like a good deal!

Can anybody here recommend an online Car Audio magazine that has done comparison tests between speakers (preferably ones which are available in Australia) that are suitable for the Stook?

Sorry folks, I'm a real neophyte in this area - 30 years ago I knew everything there was to know about HiFi (well at least what I thought there was to know) but I just haven't kept up.

The Kenwood KFC-XR600s are my top choice when I get to it. They've got 92 db sensitivity, good reports on the board, drop in fit, and $180 at Crutchfield.

I'm interested in the Sony 1631s too.

I would look at the Boston Acoustics and a/d/s. I have the a/d/s 236is.
