Default The price of Lucid's mod........

Is cheap! Really Cheap! As for me I'm a do it yourselfer and put in a lot of hours at a little auto sound shop many years ago in Eugene Oregon(Hear No Evil). I am running a Pioneer DEH-P730 head unit with Kenwood KFC XR-600's up front. After talking to Yellow S2000 about the sound improvement of his Lucid mod, I got the bug......I trust Yellow S2000 (i.e. Marc). I Ordered a set of 4" Infinity Components. I stuck the tweeters in the rear center console (next to your ear). Punched the holes with a 1 3/4" hole saw and dropped the wire through the hole. Perfect fit (used 100% Black Silicone Sealent for locking...no squeeze out). There is a perfect flat space for a tweeter here. While I was most worried about the tweeter operation it was flawless. Then moved on to 4 inchers. MAJOR PAIN! Passenger side first. The Infinity magnet is large and clearance is minimal (read recut panel once-minor grinding). Drivers side dropped right in (I adjusted hole location). Buried the cross-overs behind the rear center console....perfect fit. The sound is awesome! Bass behind the seats, tweeters in the ears and midrange up front. I would highly recommend this set-up to anyone.

As for Lucids mod? Even if you are an experienced installer the small price to pay would be worth every penny (as Lucid clearly has worked out that oh so critical placement dimension). If I were to do it again (and weren't so impatient), I trust my panels to Lucid.

Hi Utah

I'd like to see some pix of your install. Do you have tweeters up front as well?

Seems like the tweeters would have the left channel going into the right ear of the driver (and right channel going into the left ear for the passenger). This is probably great for non-stereo sound, but does the ear get confused with stereo music in this setup?

Lateott was interested in my Polk setup (6.5"/4" components). I just finished it last night. I was going to take pics of it for him. I might as well post them here too. My tweeters are mounted flush on the inside of the roll hoop. Woofer is in the same place as Lucids. Very tight fit. I had to do the a bit of trimming as well. I had to cut the screws short as well. They hit the frame on all 4 corners.

Final note after re-reading your question:

No the ear is not confused as the KFC-XR 600's have a tweeter. The sound is balanced L/R and F/B for the tweeters (relative to the passenger position) while the balance is clearly L/R for the mids and bass (relative to the entire cockpit). Hope this makes sense?.
