Problem with Alpine iDA-X305S, Modifry, XM direct tuner install
Since a picture is worth a 1000 words, a short video will hopefully get the point across even better (see my link below). Is there something I'm doing wrong or do I have faulty equipment? I have been sent a new HU and XM tuner from Crutchfield (which are the ones in the vid). I had the same problems with the initial HU/XM tuner install I did a week ago, so the only explanations left are 1) my wiring is screwed up or 2) I could have a faulty Modifry product.
Any other ideas????

Since the XM option disappeared, have you verified that the XM box's power connector still has +12V and continuity to ground? Just a wild guess because I know I discovered that my Pioneer would no longer see my connected Sirius unit when I had the fuse out for Sirius's +12V lead.
I too ordered my HU from Crutchfield, so I got the OEM wire harness adapter from them, but instead ordered and used the optional one that Modifry sells that has the additional connections for the DCI unit. Assuming you did the same, then you should have the one from Crutchfield sitting there unused. I always favor simplifying things when troubleshooting, so if I were you, I'd temporarily undo the Modifry wire harness and hook the deck up with the Crutchfield one....take the Modify stuff completely out of the picture...then see if the HU still has the problem with the button presses not registering correctly. If it does, then call Crutchfield for support....get that fixed, then bring the Modifry stuff back in.

ditto, the culprit is most likely either the XM unit, Modifry DCI, Modifry harness adapter, or the head unit. unplug everything from the head unit then go ahead and plug everything up to the head unit 1 at a time til the head unit acts up to determine where the problem is coming from. IMO i think the XM unit is the culprit because it needs to interface with the head unit which is more likely to affect the head unit, unlike the Modifry DCI which is only a remote.
